Additional Services

Urns

  • The Invercargill City Council provides environmental-friendly ash urns for cremations.

  • However, these are not for everyone, and we have other options for you to consider.  These include urns that are made locally (from recycled wood), urns of different shapes and finishes and we can also provide unique urns that are painted (colour of your choice) and/or wrapped in a personalised design.

  • Scattering at sea is an old tradition and is popular for many people.  Scattering ashes can be difficult (if windy) and result in a traumatic experience.  We stock biodegradable cremation urns as an alternative.  These urns are a vessel that gradually and safely releases your loved one’s ashes into nature without harming the environment.

Keepsakes

  • Families may request their loved one’s ashes are split between family members.

  • The keepsakes we stock (or can order for you) range from small urns to hearts to roses, along with many other options.  These keepsakes are a subtle way of having a loving reminder of those gone before us.

Jewellery

  • There are numerous options available.  We understand that having so many choices can be overwhelming for families.  The main ranges we stock are “My Angel”, “A Sparrow’s Touch”, “Love in a Jewel” and “Flame Art”.

  • This selection includes memorial jewellery for ashes, lock of hair, personal note/memento and fingerprint pendants.

  • You can visit us to look at our range of options.  We will order the jewellery on your behalf, taking care of all the arrangements – one less thing you have to do.

  • If you have seen something different and we do not stock this, we will follow up and order this for you.

Bereavement Support

  • Grief does not have a time span and nor should it.  Without love, grief would not exist.  It is in our nature to love and to cherish those close to us.  When we lose someone, the coming to terms with their death and with what their loss means to us can be overwhelming.

  • We are fortunate to have the Loss and Grief Centre operating in our Southland community.  We are financial supporters of this charitable trust and assist them where we can.

  • The Loss and Grief Centre offers drop-in sessions, support groups, counselling and training/education sessions.   You can visit them during their opening hours, we can refer you, accompany you (if you need support), you can ring/email them or find them on Facebook.
